The Metabolic Roots of Cancer

by Ron Hunninghake, M.D.

(OMNS, April 6, 2016) My experience working with cancer patients has taught me three keys to understanding their needs:

  1. Cancer statistics are faceless; the illness is real.
  2. Doctors mostly approach the disease through statistics; real patients need real caring.
  3. Real caring is personal, and incorporates a multifaceted approach that addresses all of the metabolic roots of cancer, without sacrificing conventional cancer care.

Dr. Hugh D. Riordan, my mentor, recognized a huge gap in the cancer care system. Trained as a psychiatrist, he acknowledged cancer patients for their fears, their questions, their pain, their family stress, their treatment side effects, their fatigue, their anxieties and their hopes for a real cure.

As a realist, he knew that "silver bullet" "single cause" "fix the bad gene" ideas from the parsimonious first age of scientific medicine were generally not working. He found a better way.

In The Metabolic Roots of Cancer, recorded at the 4th Riordan Intravenous Vitamin C and Cancer Symposium in Wichita, Kansas, I present a systems theory perspective on caring for the cancer patient.

37 minutes into the program, there is included a brief summary of what intravenous vitamin C (IVC) can do to help the cancer patient. But IVC is not enough.

Shooting a silver bullet is probably not the whole answer. Rather, addressing taproots and root causes may be a big step in the right direction.
